Selling Digital Products to a TikTok Audience: The Highest-Margin Route
Of every way to earn from TikTok, selling your own digital product has the best economics by a wide margin. Nobody takes a percentage except your payment processor, you set the price, and the cost of the hundredth sale is the same as the first: nothing.
It is also the one that requires the most from your audience — specifically, that they trust you on a particular subject.
What sells
Narrow, finished, immediately useful.
- Templates. Spreadsheets, Notion setups, planners, contract templates. People pay to skip setup work.
- Presets and assets. Lightroom presets, LUTs, sound packs, fonts — anything that produces a visible result instantly.
- Guides with a specific outcome. Not “how to grow on TikTok” but “the 30-day posting plan I used to get my first 10,000 followers”.
- Tools. A calculator, a checklist, a tracker. Small, concrete, obviously worth the price.
What does not sell: broad ebooks, general courses competing with free YouTube, anything whose value the buyer cannot picture in one sentence.
Validate before you build
The expensive mistake is spending six weeks making something nobody asked for. Instead: make free content about the exact problem, and watch what people ask in the comments. If the same question appears forty times, that question is your product. If it does not appear at all, nothing about your sales page will fix that.
Better still, pre-sell. Announce it, take orders, then build. Buyers tell you what to include and you have revenue before the work.
Pricing
Price on outcome, not effort. A template that saves someone ten hours is worth more than a hundred-page document that saves them nothing, regardless of which took longer to make.
Most creators underprice badly. Doubling the price typically does not halve sales; it often increases trust and therefore sales. Test it.
Getting people from TikTok to checkout
Link in bio, and that is the only mechanism — so the video has to do the work. The pattern that converts is to teach something genuinely useful for free, demonstrate the result, and mention that the thing you used is available. Hard selling in-feed performs badly and damages reach.
Capture email addresses at checkout. The list is worth more than any single product, because it is the one asset that does not depend on an app.
The maths
A $27 template selling 50 copies a month is $1,350 of nearly pure margin, from an audience of any size that trusts you. That typically beats view-based payouts at a hundred times the follower count — which is why niche accounts frequently out-earn much larger entertainment ones.
The dependency
Sales come from free videos reaching new people. If reach falls, so does everything downstream of it — and unlike a brand deal, there is no negotiation to soften the drop. Knowing whether a slow month is your offer or your distribution is the difference between fixing the sales page and fixing the wrong thing.
